A DOWNTOWN WORKS PROGRAM

WHEN DOWNTOWN WINS, L.A. WINS

DTLA accounts for less than 1% of the city’s land, yet plays an outsized role in our economy. It is home to major employers, cultural institutions, and destinations that attract people from across the region.

But there is a disconnect: hundreds of storefronts sit empty across Downtown, while entrepreneurs throughout Los Angeles are looking for opportunities to grow.

Vacant to Vibrant brings those two sides together. We connect property owners with qualified small businesses and help turn empty storefronts into places where businesses can open, grow, and become part of Downtown’s future.

HOW IT WORKS

Apply
Property owners submit vacant storefronts, and entrepreneurs apply to participate in the program.

Match
We identify the right fit between a business and an available storefront, taking into account concept, space, and needs.
3
Activate
Once matched, businesses receive rent support and hands-on assistance with permitting, build-out, and the other steps needed to open their doors.
4
Sustain
As the initial lease period comes to an end, we assess what’s working and help businesses identify a path toward long-term sustainability.
