Central City Association Statement Regarding the Olympic Wage Agreement

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 19, 2026) –  Today is an important step forward for Los Angeles’ tourism and hospitality industries, and for the workers and businesses that create them. We reached an agreement that raises wages, expands healthcare benefits – but also recognizes the economic realities these industries are facing,

We appreciate Mayor Karen Bass, Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, and other leaders on the City Council for bringing business and labor together to make sure the people creating jobs, investing in our communities, and driving our local economy had a seat at the table.

We also need to be honest about how we got here. City Hall legislated wage and benefits policies without business input, creating unnecessary conflict and uncertainty for workers, employers, and the city alike. We should not repeat that approach. CCA has a track record of partnering with labor organizations to grow economic opportunity and create new jobs – just as we did with the Los Angeles Convention Center after years of gridlock.

Los Angeles residents, business owners, and workers are struggling with affordability, public safety, and quality of life. Our focus should be on making LA safer, more affordable, and more livable so people want to visit, invest, work, and build businesses here. Together, not one-sided. When our economy is strong, businesses succeed, workers succeed, and residents see the benefits of a city with enough revenue to provide basic services.
